Home Farmer Magazine article

An article about our allotments has been published in the latest edition of Home Farmer Magazine. Although the magazine is not widely distributed it is produced locally and has its own website.

Recent Vandalism

Following the recent fire to the Community Hut the AGM decided to make application to Awards For All for help towards providing a Community Cabin and Storage Container.

AGM

Note to Members: Invites to the AGM were sent out before Christmas. Members with email addresses were sent an invite by email. Those without should have received an invite through the post. If you didn't receive an invite and you renewed your membership at renewal time last October then it's possible we have an incorrect address for you. Have you moved since October 2010? If so, then if you haven't updated your address with the association, your invite is probably at your old address!! If you are confident you have renewed your membership then please come along to the AGM.

LAPSED MEMBERS: If you didn't renew your membership last October when subs where due then you won't have received an invite to the AGM. If you want to rejoin then please come along to the AGM. You must renew before the meeting starts at 7.30 otherwise you cannot attend the AGM.

The allotment association AGM will be held on Tuesday 24th January starting promptly at 7.30pm, at St Mary's Church Hall, Cop Lane, Penwortham. The AGM is open to association members only, members should have already received an invitation either by email or through the post.

Its important for members to attend the AGM as its an opportunity to catch up on current events and find out what projects have been carried out in the past 12 months. In addition, the AGM is also when committee members are nominated, so if you want to get more involved in the association please come along.

This year we are looking for a new secretary.

The secretary is responsible for organising committee meetings and events on site, including the creation of posters and newsletters for members, and the writing and distributing of meeting minutes to other committee members. The secretary is also responsible for liaising with association members and committee members and bringing issues and concerns of members to the committees attention. The secretary works with individual project managers to ensure they have everything they need to complete projects on site. No experience is necessary but you do need to have good organisation skills.

This year we will have a guest at the AGM, Steve Smith from Preston City Council who will be answering questions about the allotment site. All questions should have been sent to the secretary or Site Rep. The deadline for submitting questions is the 16th December 2011. Because of the time limits for the AGM, Steve will not be able to answer any questions that haven't been previously submitted.
